Water woes (Dahnya)

For the two weeks after the freeze in February, Mildred's sinks were not the same. The shower worked just fine but the kitchen and bathroom faucets became stingy with the release of water. At first, we wrote it off. After all the shower was working, given time the faucets would go back to normal. Right? Wrong. It got to the point where we were eating out every night because the drops of water made washing dishes a miserable experience.

After dragging our feet (because realistically I was loving our gourmet dining) we called the plumber to check the hundred year old pipes since Fran felt we needed an expert's opinion. Turned out they were okay and for a whopping $800 he could easily replace the faucets- which were the problem (they were simply in need of being replaced).

Excuse me?! No way, Jose (actually, his name was Gavin). Instead, Fran drove out to the Home Depot and shopped. Without me.

Imagine my fright when I came home to this:

(and a tub of rapidly rising water underneath the cabinet)

After a frantic call, I was reassured that things were under control. Calm, once again, I took my requisite post-Saturday-tutorial nap and awoke a few hours later to the dynamic duo at work:

Our sinks were back to working order! And my number one excuse to not cooking quickly went out the door. Darn it.

In a spur of extravagance, Fran replaced the old plastic shower head and installed the most amazing rain shower piece of heaven in its stead:

On top of sprucing up the kitchen and bathroom, Fran also took the time to create Doakes his own little nook:

No more scrounging through the bin for Doaksie's leash!

I'm pretty sure Doaksie boy approved.
His tail was wagging a bit more than usual when we stood admiring his hook.

  1. A. Those iphone camera filters have gotta go.

    B. The shower head wasn't extravagance, the crappy plastic one the previous tenants put in was cracked and spraying water on the ceiling.
