Lights in the Heights! (Dahnya)

Saturday evening had Fran and I venturing two blocks from Mildred for the annual Lights in the Heights. When we walked out around 7 it was to a parking lot of visitors- we were a little taken aback with the turn out of people.  What we thought was a low key event is actually a full out gathering of the masses (and by masses we mean affluent white families with the occasional diverse Houston population sprinkled in).

As we walked our "utmost domestic venture" (Fran's words, not mine) we came across thousands of twinkling lights, beautiful houses and carolers. We also got to partake in free candy canes, Dippin' Dots, turkey legs, beer and hot cocoa! Where else but in Houston can you do this in December?!

The Cali house was back with a dash of Peanuts to the mix.

And a hilariously political pinata with Mr. Tom Delay as the prime target.

My two favorite parts of the night? The outdoor jazz concert and walking home to a philosophical-zombie driven debate with my hubs. Until next year LIH!
