Vitamin C (Dahnya)

Tuesday afternoon found me driving home yet another student home. It was either that or wait until 3 o'clock for the turkey break to start (school let out at 1 that day). When I dropped David off, mom came out and thanked me with a sack of oranges.

Orange they sweet? Har, har.

Setting the sack in the kitchen, I realized that we are only two people. Two people who aren't that enthused about oranges. What the hell were we going to do other than give them away?

That's where our wedding gift cards came into play. Yes. We still have gift cards to Macy's and BB&B- they come in handy every other month when we realize we could do with an appliance we didn't think to register for. Like, a juicer!

So, I assembled our work area and roped Fran into squeezing.

If you envision a romantic squeeze-a-loo, you couldn't be more wrong. After four oranges, Fran declared he was "bored" and left. But when I brought in the cup of freshly squeezed orange juice (15 minutes later), he chugged it. Which led us to conclude that our $30 investment will only come out for special guests. And, we'll start saving our pennies for the industrial, orange chopping Barnaby's juicer.

PS: I'm kicking myself for not thinking to get a picture of the two of us for our first Thanksgiving together.

  3. I'm surprised from all the vitamin C Fran proclaims is the miracle cure that he would get bored with oranges from the source.
