It's been a while (Francis)

So, it's been a rather crazy past couple weeks since either of us posted last. Dahnya has had tons going on at work. She moved back into a classroom, she is prep-ing for the GRE, and dealing with all the other drama at her school. As for me I've been cranking away at the work for my thesis, reading and trying to formulate some sort of cohesive conceptual thread that will tie everything together, working on a grant proposal to get a trip to Japan funded for a project there and who knows what else.

Needless to say Dahnya and I haven't been seeing much of each other. So this morning I woke to Dahnya reading her book next to me. Now, this never happens, I cannot think of a single time in my very short married life in which my spouse has been up before me on the weekend when she didn't have too. Then to top that dainty Dahnya, who never leaves the house with out a carefully thought out outfit, decides to go to the grocery store in her pjs to get eggs for pancakes! I was dumbfounded. When she returned we whipped up an awesome batch of Bisquick pancakes. Dahnya did the shopping and the mixing but the cooking is left to me because Dahnya never quite lets them cook all the way through.

What a great way catch up with my partner in crime and to flex my new found domesticity. All in all an awesome fall back morning and break from the intensity.

In other news I got this fun new staple of suburbanite hipness. A Husqvarna reel mower!

Good old Swedish design... at least that's what my friends in the reel mower fanatic blogs I found tell me. It was great getting through the super high grass we had (Lowe's took over a month to get it in for us) I only had to do two cuts. I'm banking on the blades having a decent edge for more that three mows. I will let you know how that goes.

If you think of it wish Dahnya luck on Thursday, she's taking the GRE.

  1. Underdone pancakes where the middle oozes out on your plate are the BEST!!! Go, D!!

Sidenote: brownies and cookies are also extra delicious like this. :-)

  2. Love it for cookies and brownies but for pancakes...not so much. Last time we had them like that, we were both fighting for the bathroom. TMI. Sorry.

PS: Geez Fran. I was embarassed enough while shopping at Fiesta so trashy and now to post it online!? *blush*

  4. haha Dahnya, I love those slummy grocery store runs... I always scurry in super quick and avoid any and all eye contact with someone who may know me. But the reward of pancakes would get me to the store in a jiff! Kudos to Fran for being the master pancake maker!!!
