Julia's Bistro, revisited

Fran and I's first date took place under a tree at the Menil Park, it later became the site of Fran's proposal. But our very first "grown up" date (as in, dress up, go out for drinks and a fancy meal) took place a little over three years ago at Julia's Bistro off Main Street. Anytime I drive by, I look at the white building and smile thinking of the wonderful evening we spent there.

As a "just because", this weekend Fran and I got all dolled up for our first official married date: I wore my new birthday dress (long story for another entry) and Fran made good use of his wedding suit. Our first stop? Julia's Bistro where we enjoyed a delicious four course meal that consisted of Mexican concoctions and dangerously good mojitos. At some point into the dinner, Fran reached into his coat pocket looking for a slip of paper and instead found this,

His wedding vows.

Needless to say the rush of memory that tiny slip of paper brought us caused tears of joy to fill my eyes and then the rapid attempt to bat them away, so as to not ruin my makeup. This little find set the course for the rest of the night. The amazing food, drinks and company were magnified accompanied by the best friend a girl could ever ask for. I know it sounds lame but it's the absolute truth.

Oh, and if you haven't been to Julia's (or the Tasting Room)- go!

I highly recommend the Picojito (a pineapple mojito) that begs for a second round...
